Upcoming Firearms Training Courses

This course is designed for experienced shooters who are comfortable handling handguns and wish to commit to a lifestyle that involves carrying a concealed weapon. Fundamentals in shooting will be covered as we learn to manipulate the weapon system in and out of holsters and from concealment. Course focus will be on Legal Considerations, Liability, NJ Use of Force, Equipment Selection, Drawing and Re-Holstering from Concealment, Reloading, and Accountability as a Responsible PTC Holder. Drills will be conducted from concealment and returning to the holster. The course will culminate with a qualification using the NJ Attorney General Approved HQC1 course of fire. Participants will need to achieve a score of 80% to pass the course.

This course is designed for anyone who wishes to take their concealed carry skills to the next level. Shooting on the flat range can only get you so far, the real world is a very dynamic place. Begin to increase the efficiency of movement drawing from concealment. Learn about transitioning between targets and shot placement within a target. Stepping off the line of attack to engage adversaries. Using cover and non traditional shooting positions. We will continue to focus on reloads and clearing malfunctions while staying in the fight.

This course is designed to challenge your concealed carry skills by adding movement to your engagements. Building on the efficiency of movement and shooting from cover in Skills I, we add forward and lateral movement drills into the curriculum. We also continue to learn about transitioning between targets and shot placement within a target.  Using cover and non traditional shooting positions. We will continue to focus on reloads and clearing malfunctions while staying in the fight.

This course builds on your fundamentals challenging you to meet time standards and scores. Using industry standards, we will push your abilities to draw and accurately place rounds on your target. Multi target drills and command drills will  be incorporated. The course will continue with using cover and non traditional shooting positions.

This course is designed for anyone who wishes to gain the knowledge and skills to save lives in an ever increasingly violent world. The course will focus on controlling traumatic injuries through Tourniquet Application, Wound packing, Pressure Dressings, and Chest Seals. The course is hands on and involves demonstrating the skills taught by the instructor. Although you may not be called upon to save lives in an Active Shooter event, every day accidents and injuries may demand the skills we will teach you in this course. Being your own advocate can ensure that you and your loved ones receive the life saving treatments they need until First Responders arrive.

-Tension Pneumothorax 

-Shock

-IFAK Kits and Selection

The NJ PTC Re-Qaulification is for anyone coming up on their two year renewal date from their original issued PTC. You may start the process within 4 months of your issued PTC date. The course will consist of a Use of Force refresher, updates to the concealed carry laws for NJ and the CCARE Qualification.

Black River Defensive is proud to be able to now offer RPO Qualifications for retired police officers as an option for their bi-annual qualifications. The course will consist of a thorough review of NJ Use of Force and qualifications on the HQC1 and HNQC courses of fire. Courses will be run monthly.

This course is designed for the new shooter or those wishing to get started in shooting. Concentrating on the fundamentals of marksmanship, you will go from beginner to comfortable practitioner, where you can then decide where the sport will take you. We will focus on Safe Weapons Handling, NJ Firearms Laws, Range Safety and Etiquette, Fundamentals of Marksmanship, Loading and Unloading, Handling Malfunctions, and Accuracy.
